Debra A. Kline-Smith

Choral Director
President & Chairman

Debra Kline-Smith will begin her forty-third year in music education in the fall of 2024. For thirty-five years, Debra held the position of Director of Choirs for the Warwick School District. While teaching at the high school, she directed Concert Choir; Holiday, Winter, and Production Companies; as well as Chamber Singers, female and male ensembles, and the award-winning Show Choir. Her groups have taken top honors in many choral festivals during her Warwick tenure. She also produced and vocally directed the highly-acclaimed annual high school spring musicals. The Warwick High School Choral Department was well-represented yearly with many students participating in all levels of vocal competition—her students earned positions in the Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators’ Association’s (LLMEA) County Chorus; Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Association (PMEA) District VII, Region V, and All-State Choirs; and at the national level with All-Eastern and National Choirs. Mrs. Kline-Smith also taught several music electives, including History & Study of Vocal Music, Music Theory, and Functional Music. During her Warwick tenure, she taught music at all levels of education: elementary, middle school, and high school. Debra also co-headed the district’s music department for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Kline-Smith has been active as an adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor for various county and honors choir festivals. She has toured with and conducted her high school groups, as well as the Pennsylvania Ambassadors of Music, American Music Abroad, and Voices United, a group that she founded. She has toured with both high school students and adults to the Orient, Europe, the Bahamas, Mexico, and major cities throughout the United States during her forty years in public and private school education. Mrs. Kline-Smith has been an active member of the American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA) and held the office of Pennsylvania Show Choir Repertoire & Standards Chair. She was also a member and officer of LLMEA and was named LLMEA “Teacher of the Year” in 2022. She is currently a member of both PMEA and the National Association for Music Education (NAFME).

Since retirement, Mrs. Kline-Smith created a private voice studio where she teaches students from the elementary, middle, and high school levels and beyond. After her final concert at Warwick in 2022 and following numerous requests from alumni, the Lititz Area Community Choir, Alumni & Friends was born. Debra resides in Lititz with her husband, Michael R. Smith.
